IT
Director |
March 2001 - Current
My responsibilities include the maintenance, upgrading and supporting of over 200 desktop computers, more than 15 servers, multiple local, wan, and wireless networks as well as software installation and maintenance. I am also responsible for all communications and data connections. This includes cellular phones, landlines, PBXs and switches, and data network connections. Further responsibilities include assessment and assistance with all things of a technical nature. My responsibilities are very hands-on in nature. We do 90% of all projects, changes, and maintenance ourselves. We do have some maintenance contracts for our phone systems and some of our Cisco equipment. We are using all Cisco routers and switches for any of our main infrastructure needs. We also deploy some lower cost equipment in non-essential areas. I currently manage on technician, but managed three technicians at our peak.
I also created and maintained basic budgets for IT and company wide technology and security needs. The level of budgeting did not include any real processing of funds, just general allocations based on users, and known or projected costs.
SR Lan Administrator
|
December 1996 | February 2001
Responsible for
LAN support and PC desktop setup/installation/troubleshooting.
This includes setting up and installing Netware servers,
maintaining 99% Netware server up-time, setting up and installing PC
hardware/software, creating disk images for different PC hardware,
making site visits to Bank One branches and offsite campuses,
setting up objects in NDS using NW Admin, research and testing of
corporate standard software and hardware, using the Internet to find
driver/application updates, Installing NAL applications and scripts
and working with users to determine hardware/software requirements.
Also requires assisting users in understanding how some
applications/systems function.
Other duties include filling out forms for software and
hardware orders and filling out requests for software and hardware
installations.
This position
began as a contract through CIBER. I spent the first three years on
the treasury management software development help desk. I assumed a
lead role very quickly. This quick assumption of responsibility was
due to my ability to assess the source of problems quickly, and the
ability to work effectively with customers over the phone. This
position also involved travel to customer sites for more in-depth
troubleshooting and resolution. I also maintained and updated
(queries/reports/relationships) the call tracking database used by
this help desk. I essentially became the go-to guy for the 1st
tier help desk staff, 2nd and 3rd tier help
desk staff, the help desk manager, and the IS development staff. I
helped resolve very technical program issues and resolved the
toughest client issues. The remainder of my employment here was
spent performing the Sr Lan Administrator functions described above.
